Research Theme

This DESRIST Track invites submissions from all streams of IS research that discuss the roles and applications of Design Science Research (DSR) in the rapidly changing digital landscape. The objective is to explore the use of DSR for cutting-edge research ideas in emerging fields. What DSR artifacts and principles are needed to leverage the widespread digitization and readily available cheap computing resources to study the IT-driven societal and business phenomena around us? Submitted papers should discuss the role of DSR in addressing the challenges and/or opportunities emerging from the following areas.

  • Large-Scale Automation
  • Inherent Bias in Algorithmic Decision Making
  • Design and Evaluation Algorithms from the Perspective of Social Good
  • Digitization of Records
  • Use of Digital Currency
  • Defining Legal and Ethical Boundaries of Virtual Reality Shows/Games
  • The Role of Machine Learning and Data Science in Developing Design Science Framework
  • The Need of Novel Evaluation Techniques and Theories for Design Science Research
  • Design Science Research in NeuroIS Applications
  • Other Emerging Fields of Research and their use of Design Science Research
